Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What are the benefit of Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a very effective tool, not a cure in and of itself.   The process gently releases blocks and fears, and creates a new inner belief that will alter and balance the way you think, feel and behave.
Hypnosis is used by therapists to gently and easily change unwanted behaviors and even physical well being.  It is a well-researched fact that Hypnotherapy can have a dramatic effect on your body chemistry and physical healing.

By working at the subconscious level (where beliefs and  behaviors are determined), you can change your attitudes and beliefs and thereby change your emotional and physical responses. It's possible to reduce guilt, anger, hatred, and resentment, opening you up to experience more emotions such as care, joy and happiness.

Hypnosis is used by therapists to gently and easily change unwanted behaviors.  It can be used to eliminate undesirable behaviors, such as procrastination, enuresis (bed-wetting), overeating, overspending, nail-biting, etc.  It is used to change the underlying beliefs about addictions, i.e., "I can't change this," "I have no control here," and "This is bigger than I am," thus assisting one in letting go of habits or addictions to cigarettes, food, sex, drugs, alcohol, and spending or gambling.  Hypnosis is used to change compulsions:  hair-pulling, cutting, and more.  It is used to assist people in overcoming fears and phobias such as public speaking, flying, heights, closed-in spaces, spiders and snakes.  It is also used to alleviate the challenges of poor self-esteem, anxiety and panic disorder as well as enhancing sports performance.

Q: Why is it so important to address the subconscious mind?

The Subconscious mind is the domain of the emotions and is our master controller.   Over 90% of our physical, mental and emotional functions are guided by the deep-rooted survival instincts of the subconscious mind.    Experiences and emotions from a lifetime are stored there.  This information is gathered from what we hear (real or unreal), see (real or unreal), sense (real or not), dream, or imagine.

Often a client will come for a session wanting desperately to change a habit but their subconscious absolutely does not want the change.  A weight management client may say, “I want to lose weight” but through kinesiology muscle testing I will find that their master controller “does not want to lose the weight.”   Once this “psychological reversal” is addressed, the client is then able to begin to make the necessary changes.  Without the help of the subconscious, our conscious will power tends to lose momentum as the stronger subconscious begins to reasserts control.   Bringing them into alignment allows you to live your life more fully.

Will the hypnotist control my mind?

No. The hypnotist simply facilitates your self-hypnosis on the issue of your choosing.  The therapist is just your guide.  You are fully aware of everything around you.  You can have a conversation with the hypnotist if it is asked of you, and you can reject anything he or she says.  You really have complete control of your faculties.  The hypnotist will guide you in understanding not only why you choose certain unwanted behaviors, but they will guide you in changing those behaviors in a way that your subconscious mind can accept.

Hypnosis is a completely voluntary act wherein you always remain conscious; you're always aware and able to hear, to talk, and to make decisions. You will be guided into a wonderful, relaxed state of focus and awareness. And afterwards, you will remember everything that happened.

The hypnotist cannot control you, make you do things you don't want to do, or make you tell secrets. You are always in control.
Hypnosis is a voluntary act. You can only be hypnotized if you want to go into hypnosis and are willing to follow the hypnotist's instructions. When you do this, nothing can keep you from going into hypnosis and everyone can be hypnotized if they want to be.

You are not asleep or unconscious during hypnosis; you are always aware and able to hear, to talk, and to make decisions. You are intentionally accessing the hypnotic trance that occurs without intent, probably several times a day.

Hypnosis can create powerful positive changes in your life when you hold a positive mental attitude toward a suggestion offered to your subconscious mind.
