About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is an intentional induced altered state of deep relaxation characterized by a more relaxed and slower brain wave pattern in order to allow the subconscious to receive sought after beneficial suggestions for specific unwanted behaviors. This connection allows not only an acceptance of positive suggestions to replace negative beliefs in the subconscious but also creates a healthy interchange of thoughts, ideas and information.

The alpha state is a very peaceful state of mind and body where it becomes possible to access the subconscious mind. Brain chemistry is more balanced in the Alpha state and functions more creatively and efficiently. Although we tend to think that our conscious minds are in charge, it is really the subconscious mind that is playing the larger role in our lives. It is where our programming is stored and it is only with this access that permanent and transforming changes can be made gently and easily. Our subconscious, in its role of protecting us, holds all the beliefs and instincts whether they are sound or distorted

In essence, it is not unlike what can be experienced while watching a movie or TV, listening to music, Creative Visualization, reading an engrossing book, gardening, painting, or daydreaming. This altered state is experienced when our conscious thinking (Beta brain wave frequency) shifts into a slower brain wave pattern (Alpha), a state where both the conscious and unconscious minds are able to receive healing suggestions and work in unison. It is at this point of relaxation that your desired beneficial goals can be achieved. There are a number of levels of levels of consciousness that will be discussed later but for changes to take place, the lighter levels are very effective.

Evidence of four altered state has been researched and seen on scans of the brain during hypnosis and meditation. The brain wave activity first changes from the waking Beta pattern of 15-40 cycles per second to the slower more relaxed alpha pattern of 9-15 cycles per second or the even slower Theta pattern of 5-14 cycles per second. The hypnotherapist does not need to take the client into the deeper levels in order to be effective.

A hypnotherapy session is a very relaxing and healing experience. Once we have discussed your session goals you will be guided into relaxation and suggestions are given to bring about the positive changes you desire. You are then given a recording of the session that you are encouraged to listen to each day.

Hypnotherapy is medically approved by The American Medical Association and The American Psychiatric Association.
